How many guests can the barn seat?
The barn can seat up to 200 guests for dinner.
Are tables and chairs included with the rental fee of the barn?
We have found that our couples all have their own vision of the barn for their wedding day, therefore we leave the selection of tables and chairs up to you! We do have several rental companies we can recommend. They are ready to help you pull together all your rental needs both for tables and chairs as well as all the other necessities needed for the perfect wedding day.
Do you have bathrooms?
Yes! We have beautiful indoor restroom facilities with hot and cold running water for you and your guests!
Are we required to use your preferred vendors?
We very much encourage our clients to choose from our preferred vendor list for the catering and bar service. They have all worked at the barn and are excellent at what they do and are ready to provide a stress free event for you and your guests. If you are interested in using a catering company or bar service not on our preferred vendor list you will need prior approval from the William Allen Farm. All other rentals and services are left to the discretion of our couples.
How long do we have access to the property?
We do just one wedding per weekend so the property is yours from noon the day before your wedding until noon the day after.
How late can our event go?
We ask that the bar close and the music end at 10 pm the night of your event with the expectation that your guests have left the property by 10:30 pm.
Are there overnight accommodations on the property for our guests and bridal party?
We do not offer overnight accommodations here at the farm. Although, we are just 10 minutes from downtown Freeport offering a variety of accommodations, dining and shopping. The beautiful coastal town of Brunswick is just 20 minutes from William Allen Farm and Maine’s largest
city Portland is just half an hour south of us. Please refer to our lodgings and accommodations page for suggestions for your bridal party, family and guests.
Do we need a tent?
A tent is not necessary as the barn can accommodate up to 200 guests for dinner, however a tent is never a bad idea. A tent can offer an alternative plan in case of rain for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour. A tent is also helpful in the heat of summer to offer additional shade for an outdoor cocktail hour as well. Couples have also had dinner under the tent with the ceremony and dancing in the barn taking full advantage of the space the property offers.
Is there on-site parking?
Yes! We have a large parking area which can easily fit 80 cars. The parking area is away from the barn and grounds so that you do not have a parking lot next to your event yet easily accessible for your guests.
Is there a space on the property for the bridal party to get ready?
Yes! We have a large beautiful bridal suite on site just steps away from the barn. The bridal suite offers a private bathroom for use by the bridal party during the day while you are getting ready. The suite is relaxing and comfortable offering plenty of space to have hair and makeup done on site.
Are we allowed to have the Rehearsal Dinner in the barn?
Yes! Please remember the catering and bartending must be licensed and insured. Please keep in mind that cleanup is required after the rehearsal dinner in order to be ready for your wedding day. We would be happy to discuss local restaurants as options for your rehearsal dinner as well.
Can we supply our own beer, wine and alcohol?
Yes! You must obtain host liquor liability insurance for $1,000,000 of coverage if it is not offered through your caterer. You will also need to hire a professional bartending service or engage your caterer to serve any alcohol consumed on the property.
Are we required to clean up after the event?
We do require that all the trash be removed from the property as well all rentals broken down and stacked for pick up by the rental company. It is always a good idea to check with your caterer as to whether or not they will provide this service for you. We require that all personal items, décor and florals be removed from the property by noon the day following your event.
What is the rental fee and payment process for the William Allen Farm?
The rental fee for a wedding at the William Allen Farm including the barn, grounds, spacious bridal suite with attached private bath to spend the day getting ready, indoor restroom facilities for your guests, and plenty of off road parking is $7,200 for the 2018 season. A 50% non-refundable deposit will hold the date for you with the balance due 60 days prior to the event.
